The College is located in a prime area of Singapore near the junction of Adam Road and Bukit Timah Road, within walking distance from the Botanic Gardens MRT Station. Its workforce is made up of local and overseas faculty and staff. Most overseas faculty and students stay on campus. The College provides lunch for employees from Monday to Friday during semester.

Assistant or Associate Professor of Practical Theology

School of Theology, English

Start Date: 1 July 2021

Singapore Bible College, an evangelical and interdenominational seminary with students from 25 countries and over 3000 graduates in its 65-year history, invites expressions of interest in a teaching position in Practical Theology at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. As partners in the ministry of the College, all faculty are expected to raise a portion of their financial support. The College will also work with the faculty member will find suitable and adequate support.

This position is slated to begin in the July-November 2021 semester. As one of the founding institutions of the Asia Theological Association, the College offers fully accredited MA, MDiv, ThM, and DMin degrees.

  • Teach residential and/or online courses in Practical Theology as assigned by the Academic Dean on a full-time basis (i.e., 9-12 credit hours or their equivalent)
  • Hold regular office hours to meet with students for consultation and mentoring
  • Evaluate student assignments and submit grades at the end of each semester
  • Lead a pastoral care group composed of students
  • Attend faculty meetings on a regular basis, with administrative duties assigned by the Academic Dean on an ad hoc basis
  • Work on research and writing projects as a lifelong learner
  • Participate fully in the community life of the college (e.g., chapel hours, combined events)
  • Enthusiastic agreement with the College’s mission, vision, and evangelical statement of faith
  • A completed doctoral degree (PhD preferred) in the area of Practical Theology (e.g., homiletics, pastoral leadership, pastoral counseling) from a recognized and accredited educational institution
  • 7-10 years of ministry and/or teaching experience
  • Significant experience in paid pastoral ministry, with cross-cultural experience, bilingual ability in English and Chinese, and ordination strongly desired
  • Evidence of continued engagement with emerging issues in ministry and church life (e.g., participation in seminars/workshops, research, and writing)
  • Willingness to use and/or learn the latest educational technologies

Practicum Coordinator

School of Counselling, Chinese

The Practicum Coordinator will assist School of Counselling Chinese program students in achieving the practicum goals set by the school and gaining a fulfilling practicum experience.

  • Database management of students, practicum agency information and practicum-related documents
  • Recruitment and development of new agencies to host SOC.C students
  • Arrange pre-practicum interviews with students to assess their suitability to begin a practicum.
  • Assist in matching students with appropriate practicum sites.
  • Conduct student orientation sessions related to the practicum.
  • Arrange practicum supervision for students, and assist with practicum supervision-related training.
  • Liaises with the placement sites’ coordinators about the progress of SBC’s interns during their practicum courses
  • Provides support and appropriate advice to students during their practicum, and report to the Program Coordinator if students have ongoing difficulties in demonstrating professional competence.
  • Arranges personal therapy sessions for students
  • Assist in the development of Chinese counselling services as part of SOC.C’s service to the Chinese speaking community.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling or a related degree
  • Two or more years of counselling or administrative related work experience.
  • Experience in providing counselling training preferred.
  • Bilingual communication and basic writing skills
